11.) December 9, 2020 Joshua Joshua 6:2-5
And to Joshua the LORD said: I have delivered Jericho, its king, and its warriors into your power. Have all the soldiers circle the city, marching once around it. Do this for six days, with seven priests carrying ram’s horns ahead of the ark. On the seventh day march around the city seven times, and have the priests blow the horns. When they give a long blast on the ram’s horns and you hear the sound of the horn, all the people shall shout aloud. The wall of the city will collapse, and the people shall attack straight ahead. Summoning the priests, Joshua, son of Nun, said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant with seven of the priests carrying ram’s horns in front of the ark of the LORD.”
(Joshua was Moses’ successor. Under his leadership, the Israelites flourished and occupied the Promised Land)
Seven days we encircled the city of Jericho and marched. Our priests carried the Ark and blew their ram’s horns behind our best and finest hand-picked troops in the parade. At God’s command we did this seemingly foolish thing. We were not to wage war—only to march in circles around Jericho’s walls, carrying the Ark and blowing the ram’s horn for six days. The inhabitants of Jericho jeered. But on the seventh day when we shouted as the horns blared—the walls fell! We had strong faith in God, and the jeers stopped.Thought: Do I keep faith in You as you have been faithful to me?
