Joseph was greatly loved by his father, Jacob. Thus, his ten brothers were jealous and hated him to the point of wanting to kill him. Instead, they sold him to a group of Ishmaelites, who would have been distant relatives. Talk about a dysfunctional family! The pain of broken family relationships is acute. No one “wins” when marriages or funerals turn ugly because of ancient hurts being aired, or worse, family members being excluded. The path to mending relationships requires much forgiveness, openess, and trust on all sides. Question: Can I start the process of mending family hurts? Gen 37: 3-4, 20-28
