Today we meet Naaman, the army commander and a foreigner, who traveled to see the prophet Elisha seeking to be cured of his leprosy. Naaman was a man of action, so he was deeply unhappy that Elisha did not come out to perform a miracle, sending only a message to go and wash in the Jordan River, but he did it. This caused me to think about how I encounter/recognize works of God—the miracles of life. Is it only in the big flashy moments like births or beautiful sunsets? Am I ignoring the fact that God is everywhere everyday—walking, driving, or taking the bus to work, folding laundry, dusting my home, or snuggling with my husband? I need to recognize God in all and say, “thank you”. Naaman did, and so must I.
