3rd Tuesday of Advent December 17, 2024 Isaiah Symbol=CandleIsaiah spoke of a people returning to the light—God. His words of comfort still soothe today. This greatest of all the prophets of Advent, promised that “God is with us”. That Emmanuel and a special suffering servant, Jesus, would save us. (see chapters 42:1-7; 49:1-7: 50:4-11: and 52:13-53 for all the Suffering Servant Songs) Can we follow the light? We are approaching the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Darkness is surrounding us. Yet, by Christmas the days will have lengthened. There is light—our nation, our families, we ourselves, can once again be a light for the world, neighborhoods homes, but it will require prayer and work. The Lord asked, “Whom shall I send?” Isaiah answered, “Here I am, send me!” Can we answer as Isaiah did? Pray and work. Question: Am I willing to get more involved to preserve democracy and our planet? Isaiah 6:8-10
