Today is the sequel to everybody’s favorite bible story—Jonah (Jonah 3:1-10). We start today after Jonah has been spewed up on land. Our hero is on a journey to the city of Nineveh announcing his message as he goes. I began to realize that Jonah must have been compelling to elicit such a change in the townspeople. Do I have such a compelling message? What do the people I encounter daily hear from me? Am a messenger of God, telling the Good News, or is my message one of “me first and the devil take the hindmost”? Today is like yesterday’s thought—what is the impact of my presence in this community? When I take up my bull horn (which is really just the way I live my life) I’d better be an agent of positivity. Another opportunity for examination of conscience.
