Another of the 4 Suffering Servant Songs from Isaiah is presented today. It speaks of a person set aside for a major task. He/She will cure, free, and console people. A common practice when setting aside someone is to anoint them. Jesus is anointed in today’s Gospel by a woman at a dinner party. We, too, have been anointed at baptism. We are set aside by God for a special task. Pray for guidance to follow Jesus’ lead.
