2nd Wednesday of Advent December 11, 2024 Hannah Symbol=Wine
Hannah, a barren woman, poured out her heart to the Lord silently begging that her barrenness be removed. The high priest thought she was drunk because she cried and moved her lips but remained silent. What barren and dry hurts do we hold in our hearts silently? Is it loneliness, fear, broken promises, disappointments, or injustices? Hannah admitted her pain and sorrow to the high priest. Sometimes we just need to verbalize what is causing us to feel barren. God will listen. Find a friend, your spouse, a member of the clergy. Talking may help and that talking may become prayer. Hannah’s prayer was answered. Speaking your hurts may be the first step toward finding an answer. Question: Do I suffer in silence thinking no one can help me? Do I take time to listen to a friend, child, or anyone who needs to talk? 1 Sam 1:9-19
