Sunday December 26, 2021 Jesse Tree-Holy Family 1 John 3:1-2
Today we celebrate the feast of the Holy Family. Our Jesse Tree ornament depicts the family consisting of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus. The second reading from Mass today is taken from the first letter of John where he tells us that we are “called the children of God.” This holiday season can be difficult for some for so many reasons. Whatever the sorrows, the dysfunction, the alienation, John promises that we do indeed belong to a large loving family—God’s family. This knowledge may not help with the pain, but it may give strength to endure. If you are feeling sorrow—please reach out to someone. If you know of someone who is struggling—please reach out to them. In doing so, we can create a Holy Family.
