John: Why is it always women who must take the blame and suffer the consequences? The woman caught “in the very act of committing adultery” was made to stand before Jesus and the crowd alone. All alone. Where was the man? Society lays heavy burdens on women—then and still now. What is done today to aid women who must head a household alone because the man ran out, being unwilling to accept the responsibilities of fatherhood? Social safety nets are being destroyed. Access to pre- and post-natal care is being eroded. SNAP and WIC are being drastically cut. Most lawmakers are men. The man “caught in the very act of committing adultery” was not made to face the facts. Neither are lawmakers today. Nothing has changed.
