Thursday Week 2 of Lent March 20, 2025
Jeremiah 17:10 and Luke 16:19-31 Lazarus, the beggar, was poor, sick, and neglected. The unnamed rich man (any unnamed person in Sacred Scripture is intended to be us, so insert your own name into the story) didn’t even see Lazarus. Today the poor, hungry, and sick are being neglected or worse, viewed as “parasites” (to quote a certain unelected multi-billionaire). Our governmental policies seem to be designed to increase their number and misery. The prophet Jeremiah tells us that “God probes the mind and tests the heart”. Will we pass such a test?
