I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; they will strike at your head, while you strike at their heel.
(This is considered to be the first promise of salvation)
The snake was so persuasive. Softly and smoothly he cajoled. “Rules are for the weak. You are strong and need no boundaries,” he seemed to hint. Yes, just like oil the words spread over and into us. And in the moment, he made sense because we didn’t need rules; we were adults and could do as we wished. But actions have consequences. We suffered the loss of our home, but more importantly, we suffered the loss of our relationship with God. God no longer walked and talked with us as before. We severed that intimacy by willfully disobeying. Though God, showing unmerited mercy, promised redemption.
Thought: Help me to work on my relationships today, and especially my relationship with God.
