April 17, 2022 Easter Sunday
HAPPY EASTER!! I must admit that today’s liturgy is a letdown after last night. Today is more like a regular Sunday liturgy; the energy, drama, symbolism, and excitement of last night is missing. But the Easter readings are still beautiful! This morning, Peter, in an excerpt from Acts of the Apostles, is proclaiming Christ risen! Yes, Jesus was put to death, but the power of death was no match for him! Our psalm is one that just demands to be sung: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad!” Those words should thrill you! In the letter to the Colossians, we are assured that if we die with Christ, we will also rise with him! Now that is a reason to celebrate!! Finally, John recounts how women followers of Jesus go to the tomb and find it open and empty! They run to tell the men, and when Peter and another disciple arrive, they see that it is truly empty. Jesus has risen!! And because Jesus has risen, we need not fear death. It has no power over us! We will rise to everlasting life as Jesus did! Jesus Christ goes before us, leading the way, encouraging us to follow. There is nothing more glorious than that promise! How great is our God!! HAPPY EASTER!!
I want to thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts this Lent. Writing these posts has been a rewarding exercise for me, and I hope that reading them has been rewarding for you. I will not be posting as often until Advent, but please continue to check in from time to time. I will post poems and other thoughts as the Spirit moves me to do so. Tell a friend about me if you were moved by my posts. God bless you all.
