Sarah laughed to cover her doubt. She was incredulous at the thought of having a child at her age. Doubt—the feeling that paralyzes us or causes us to laugh to cover it. Discernment is needed. Why doubt a trustworthy source? Why trust a dubious source? Can extraordinary events happen—a child late in life, cure of cancer, win the lottery? Yes, they can. Doubt has its place, but never ever doubt God’s promise—unfailing love and forgiveness.
Prayer: O God, you are a God of your word. There is nothing I can do to lose your love. Nothing I can do that you will not forgive. No promise you make will ever be discarded. Lessen my doubts, strengthen my belief.
