December 4 Abraham Field of Stars
On old man receives a promise—he will be the father of a great nation more numerous than the stars of the heavens. Life is full of promises—spring, pregnancies, first day of school, a wedding, planting seeds. What keeps us hoping even when life’s circumstances suggest the promise is empty? Faith! Not easy, I know, but faith in God is never misplaced. Abrahan had faith, we must, too.
Prayer: O God, it is hard to keep my faith and hope alive sometimes. When sickness strikes me or my loved ones, when death claims a family member or a dear friend, when I see my government behaving in capricious ways, help me to understand that I don’t see in the long term. Bolster my faith, keep my hope alive.
