That’s quite a threat. There is music all around us—the laughter of children, family, and friends, the singing of birds, the sigh of wind in the trees, the sound of our lover’s or best friend’s voice. To obey the king, we would have to spend a lot of time on our knees. They, of course, refused to worship the golden idol. I’m wondering, though, if Nebbie wasn’t too far from wrong. Those sounds that are music to our ears ought to evoke in us a response of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord.
