Friday Week 5 of Lent April 11, 2025
Jeremiah and John: “Terror on every side!” cries Jeremiah. In the Gospel, Jesus asks which of his good works provoked the crowd to want to stone him. We’ve all heard the adage, “No good deed goes unpunished.” It feels like that all too often. Should that make us shrink from being generous with our time, talent, and treasure? No, it should not. The road of discipleship is not easy. Activism and generosity may cause us to be branded as “snowflakes” or “woke”. We are promised, in today’s Psalm 18, that the Lord God will be our shield from flying rocks.
