Moses sets before the people “life and prosperity, death and doom”. He tells them to choose life. Is there really a choice here? I doubt anyone would choose death and doom, but do we always choose life. We are faced with so many choices in everyday of our lives. They may not seem life life or death, prosperity or doom at the moment yet everything we choose to do impacts someone else. You choose to drive instead of hopping a bus or walking, you rush out of the coffee shop and fail to hold the door for someone you didn’t bother to notice, you don’t smile at the person you meet on the sidewalk because you are talking on your phone. All of these are small choices, but one is life-giving the other is not. Think about your little choices today.
