Friday December 17, 2021 Jesse Tree-Isaiah Isaiah 49: 8-10 and Matt 1:1-17
Yes, you can call me a nerd, but I love the Matthew genealogy. I know many people glaze over at the mere thought of all those “N became the father of N” but if you look closely, you will find that there are some wonderful stories in the list of Jesus’ ancestors. Our Jesse Tree symbol is Isaiah the prophet. We have been reading much from Isaiah this Advent, and our Jesse Tree has used many of the names in Matthew’s genealogy. We have been beautifully prepared for today’s Gospel. Today let us take a moment to think about our own genealogies. What wonderful stories are buried there? They prepared the world for you, and Isaiah has prepared us for today. Give thanks for all those people who made you who you are—a beloved child of God.
