Saturday 3rd Week of Lent March 13, 2021

Hosea speaks to us again today. He tells us that the Lord will come “…like spring rain that waters the earth.” https://bible.usccb.org/readings/calendar .  Is there anything so sweet as the gentle rains in spring? The smell of wet earth just plowed for the planting is wonderful—so full of promise. The earth drinks up the rain, just as we should drink up the blessings God rains upon us. Ever notice how a daffodil when filled with rain bows? It is as though it is bowing in Thanksgiving. How often do we bow in Thanksgiving? The drops gather at the tips of branches and blades of grass, and if we are out in it, on the tips of our noses or ribs of our umbrellas. It falls in abundance. Hold out your hand to catch the falling rain. It is a blessing. Then bow your head and give thanks for the rain, your life, your blessings. Let the rain water your soul, be prepared for planting.
