Rejoice! Today is Gaudete Sunday! We are at the halfway point of Advent. Time to make a quick check on how well you are preparing for Christ. I don’t mean baking cookies, wrapping presents, or decorating the house. I mean preparing for Christ, the King who is to come again!!! Samuel, the Jesse Tree ornament for today, heard the voice of God calling him. God had to call several times because it took a while for him to understand that it was God who was calling. But once he realized what was going on, he called out “Here I am!”, and then he listened to God and followed God’s will. This season is filled with distractions that call to us. Take the time to sort the noise from God’s voice. Listen for that voice and make ready to welcome the King. Cookies can wait.
