7th Day of Advent

7.) December 5, 2020  Judah  Gen 49:8-10

“You, Judah, shall your brothers praise your- hand on the neck of your enemies; the sons of your father shall bow down to you. Judah is a lion’s cub; you have grown up on prey, my son. He crouches, lies down like a lion, like a lioness—who would dare rouse him?  The scepter shall never depart from Judah, or the mace from between his feet, until tribute comes to him, and he receives the people’s obedience.

(Judah is neither the oldest nor the most famous of Jacob’s sons, but he is listed in Jesus’ genealogy. God chooses as God sees fit)

This blessing from my father, Jacob, proved to be a hard one to live with. My brothers chafed at it—not wanted to bow down to me. And was I really to be a king with a scepter and mace? It was too incredible. Yet, from my line came King David. And from the House of David came Jesus Christ the King. All nations bow at the name of Jesus, and His rule is everlasting. The blessing weighed heavily on me at the time, but now I’ve seen its fullness. What a blessing my blessing was
