December 12 Ruth A Heart
Ruth was an alien, an immigrant, a pagan, and a widowed woman—nothing lower in the world. She had no one to aid her in that time of famine. Ruth chose to follow her mother-in-law, a Jew, to a new land, forsaking her gods and all she knew. There she followed the precepts of Judaism faithfully. God made her the great grandmother of King David. An unlikely member of Jesus’ family tree.
Prayer: O God, keep me from looking down on those who are different, foreigners and people of other faiths. Remind me that you have worked through unlikely people in the past and are probably doing so today. Remind me that no one is unworthy of my love.
